ZAKK WYLDE's Home Studio: First Photos Posted Online

October 17, 2009

A number of photos taken during the installation of a home recording studio for Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) at his residence outside of Los Angeles can be found at this location. A few of the pictures are available below. Late September saw the start of initial interior demo of the existing structure and construction prep work.

Zakk's home studio is being built by Zack Fagan of Under The Wire, a Studio City, California-based company which specializes in the installation of commercial and private recording studios and post-production complexes.

Commented Fagan: "Having demolished the old walls and removed all of the debris from Zakk's guest house, the real work of prepping the structure and starting the construction phase can begin. An entire new subfloor has been installed under the amp room, control room, drum room and piano room. The floors have all been re-insulated with eco-friendly 100% cotton insulation and an additional floating floor will soon be installed on top of the new subflooring. Amp room and drum room have been built out to be totally isolated from the rest of the structure and an entirely new electrical system has been installed. A state-of-the-art power transformer and dedicated isolated grounding system has also been put in place."

Wylde and his BLACK LABEL SOCIETY bandmates will spend January/February tracking a new album for a tentative spring 2010 release.

Zakk's wife Barbaranne revealed in a recent online posting that Wylde is suffering from "a rare genetic clotting disorder" for which he is currently receiving treatment in California.

Wylde got the "green light" from his doctor to take part in the Halloween (October 31) BLACK LABEL SOCIETY performance in Times Square (New York City) to promote his new limited-edition Epiphone Graveyard Disciple guitar. Zakk has also scheduled an in-store signing session on October 30 at Sam Ash in New York City to unveil the guitar.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's "Skullage" DVD package sold 5,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on the Top Music Videos chart. Released April 21 in three different configurations — CD, DVD and CD/DVD — this collection features the best of Zakk Wylde & Co. This massive greatest hits package is chock-full of live material, music videos, interviews, and a vivid cross-section of brutal and introspective tracks, from amped-up blazers like "Fire It Up" and "Suicide Messiah" to raw power ballads like "In This River" and "Spoke In The Wheel".

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY announced in June 2007 that it had parted ways with Roadrunner Records.

The group's sole release through Roadrunner was 2006's "Shot to Hell" album.

"Shot to Hell" sold just under 32,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release — less than the 45,000 copies shifted by BLS's "Mafia" (Artemis) back in March 2005 — to land at position No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart.
