WINTERBORN: New Album Released In Japan; Audio Samples Available

December 13, 2008

WINTERBORN, the self-proclaimed "coldest Finnish heavy metal band," released its second album, "Farewell to Saints", in Japan on November 19 via Marquee/Avalon. Release dates for other parts of the world have yet to be announced.

Commented WINTERBORN frontman Pasi Vapola: "We are more than pleased to sign a contract with such a great and highly appreciated company as Marquee/Avalon. Working with them has been so professional and easy from the day one. We couldn't ask for a better companion in Japan than they are. Let's hope that this will be a long-term releationship with them. And it was really about time to get the album out at least somewhere. Unfortunately, we still have to wait even longer for things to sort out in Europe and elsewhere. We are really sorry that the fans have to wait this long for the album, but it's not fun to us either. It's really hard to promise any release dates right now for the album here in Europe and we ask our fans for little more patience with us. Thanks. Hopefully our patience will be rewarded. And I have to say that hopefully the fans in Japan and elsewhere will like the album. It's for them."

WINTERBORN recorded a new song ("Last Man Standing") for the "Farewell to Saints" album with the band's current lineup, to be included as the last track on the CD, except in Japan where it is the bonus track.

Commented the group: "We wanted to do one song with the new guys in the band and went in to the studio and the atmosphere was really great. The chemistry in the band is now just amazing. Teemu [Koskela, vocals] and Pasi wrote the song pretty fast and it wasn't actually even completely ready when we started recording it. We just made up stuff as we recorded. It turned out to be really heavy song with a great chorus and some of the heaviest riffs we have so far. And the whole song is very raw compared to the stuff we have done earlier. We wanted it just like that. Raw and heavy rock. And Teemu's singing is once again amazing. And now it's nice that the fans get the idea how the band sound at this point. Our new drummer, Lauri Bexar, just kicks your ass! And the whole band works now like a charm. Having another guitar player in the band, Antti Hokkala, who joined in at the same time as Lauri, makes the band sound more versatile than before. We are really pleased with the song."

Two songs from "Farewell to Saints" are available for streaming on the WINTERBORNMySpace page.

WINTERBORN's debut album, "Cold Reality", was released in 2006 through Massacre Records.

WINTERBORN is:

Teemu Koskela: vocals
Pasi Vapola: guitar and backing vocals
Jukka Hänninen: keyboards and backing vocals
Pasi Kauppinen: bass and backing vocals
Lauri Bexar: drums
Antti Hokkala: guitar and backing vocals
