WICKED WISDOM To Release Debut Album This Month

February 8, 2006

WICKED WISDOM — the five-piece band featuring actress Jada Pinkett Smith (wife of Will Smith) — will release their self-titled debut album on February 21 via 100% Womon/Suburban Noize Records.

"I listened to all kinds of metal as a kid," Pinkett Smith told MTV.com. "METALLICA, GUNS N' ROSES. I would always look at Axl Rose and say, 'Why aren't there any chicks out there doing this now?' I always wanted an opportunity to get out there and rock out."

Formed in 2002, WICKED WISDOM initially tried out a "rock/soul fusion thing" that didn't quite feel right, hitting the road in 2004 opening for the European leg of BRITNEY SPEARS' Onyx Hotel tour.

"It was on that tour that we realized we wanted a more metal thing and we started writing more on that tip," Jada told MTV.com. "It just started getting heavier and heavier, and that's when it clicked for us."

It was not long before the WICKED WISDOM live show garnered major buzz and caught the attention of influential ears, including Ozzfest tour organizer Sharon Osbourne. Osbourne states, "I went to see WICKED WISDOM play last April in a tiny (Los Angeles) club at midnight. Let me tell you, I was blown away. When you see and hear Jada with her band it's apparent that she has nothing but love and respect for this genre of music. I totally respect that the band wants to pay their dues playing the second stage on Ozzfest [where WICKED WISDOM performed in 2005]."

WICKED WISDOM are currently on the road opening for SEVENDUST and have more dates planned for late summer and fall. "This is passion," Jada told MTV.com. "I feel really blessed and grateful to have this opportunity."
