WARBEAST To Record Song For Late MINISTRY/RIGOR MORTIS Guitarist

January 3, 2013

Texas thrashers WARBEAST will dedicate their West Coast tour with DOWN to late MINISTRY and RIGOR MORTIS guitarist Mike Scaccia.

WARBEAST vocalist Bruce Corbitt, who is also a member of RIGOR MORTIS, last week shared his condolences and thoughts with the community. "Mike Scaccia left this Earth doing what he loved to do," he wrote. "Tragically, the music world has lost an extremely talented, gifted and unique guitar virtuoso. His music and his legend will live on forever. But a loving husband, father, son and brother etc. can never be replaced. Mike would be overwhelmed with this outpouring of emotion that has risen from his passing, but he would mainly be proud of the enormous support that everyone has shown towards his family during this devastating time in their lives. We can and we will make sure that Mike's wife and his kids are taken care of. So, I would like to ask anyone that can make a donation … big or small… do it now. Please understand that this is what would mean the most to Mike."

In addition to the fundraiser effort, Philip Anselmo of Housecore Records and DOWN came up with the idea for WARBEAST to write some lyrics about Scaccia. WARBEAST already has two songs recorded and in the vault. One of them is about Corbitt's brother Jeff Corbitt, while the other will be about Scaccia. The two tracks will be released together with a picture of Mike on one side and a picture of Jeff on the other. In addition, Mike's daughter Sarah Scaccia is putting a beautiful book together to honor her father.

If you are interested in e-mailing your personal stories about Mike Scaccia to Sarah, she can be contacted at [email protected]. She will compile all the stories for the book.

Scaccia died on December 22 while performing with RIGOR MORTIS at The Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas at Bruce Corbitt's 50th-birthday celebration.

Scaccia, who is also known for his work with REVOLTING COCKS, died of a sudden heart attack brought on by a heart disease (official cause of death: atherosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease),according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. Officials ruled it a natural death. He was 47 years old.

Mike is survived by his wife Jenny Rowen Scaccia, with whom he has two toddlers, and daughters Sarah Scaccia and Taarna Scaccia Hopkins.
