W.A.S.P. Mainman Explains Spain, Portugal Cancellations

July 22, 2008

W.A.S.P. mainman Blackie Lawless has issued the following statement:

"W.A.S.P. regret to announce that because of logistical and communication problems, the upcoming shows scheduled for Spain on July 25th in Lorca and Bilboa on the 26th have been cancelled. Originally, W.A.S.P. was scheduled to perform on July 26th in Portugal at the Lagoa Festival. An announcement was made by the festival that W.A.S.P. as well as other bands pulled out of the show without giving a reason... this is not true! The fans in both Spain and Portugal have supported W.A.S.P. from the beginning and we love you! We will return to play for both soon!"

Remaining European W.A.S.P. shows are as follows:

Jul. 29 - Turku Festival - Turku, Finland
Jul. 31 - Pakkahuone - Tampere, Finland
Aug. 01 - Teatria - Oulu, Finland
Aug. 02 - Annka Rock Festival - Finland

"The Crimson Idol" show, including the film, will be performed in its entirety at the shows in Tampere and Oulu.

Blackie Lawless was interviewed this past spring by Andrew Haug of Triple J's "Full Metal Racket" (based in Australia). Download the 23-minute audio file in MP3 format at this location (9 MB).

W.A.S.P. recently completed the European and North American legs of "The Crimson Idol Tour", which kicked off on October 26, 2007 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The band performed the 1992 album in its entirety while never-before-seen video footage was being shown throughout the show. After a short break the group returned for another a 30-minute set of W.A.S.P. classics.

W.A.S.P.'s latest album, "Dominator", was released in digipack and LP format on October 1, 2007 via Demolition Records. The digipack features a special 3D cover.
