VOLBEAT: German, Swiss Tour Dates Announced

Danish metal band VOLBEAT has lined up the following tour dates:

As previously reported, VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen has been hired as a writer for the Danish edition of the FHM magazine. Poulsen will write for the publication every third month about rock 'n' roll in general. The new issue of FHM (No. 44) came out on May 10 and features Michael's memories of the time he spent on stage with some of the musicians ELVIS PRESLEY used in the studio and in concert during the '50s and the '70s. The show, which took place on April 22, 2006 at Amager Bio in Copenhagen, Denmark, saw Poulsen perform alongside Jerry Carrigan (drums),Richie Young (guitar) and Bob Moore (bass). VOLBEAT will support METALLICA on July 13 in Århus, Denmark. Also appearing on the bill is MNEMIC.

VOLBEAT's sophomore album, "Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil", recently entered the Danish national chart at position No. 1. According to a posting on the group's web site, the CD has already sold more than 10,000 copies in the band's home country.

VOLBEAT recently announced the addition of guitarist Thomas Bredahl from the punk rock combo GOB SQUAD to the group's ranks. GOB SQUAD supported VOLBEAT on their Danish tour in 2006.

"The Strength, The Sound, The Songs" last year became the first Danish heavy rock release in over 10 years to break the national Top 20.
