Vocalist TONY MILLS Quits SHY To Focus On TNT

July 11, 2006

According to a posting on MelodicRock.com, vocalist Tony Mills has officially left SHY in order to pursue a singing career with TNT.

"After much deliberation and trying to build a future, it seems that my future lies in Norway with TNT," Mills said in a statement. "Having spent a lot of time in the company of Ronnie Le Tekro, Diesel Dahl and Victor Borge it is obvious that we all get on real well and this is a band with a determination that you cannot put a price on. The professionalism with which they carry themselves and the respect they already command has been an effective magnet to me and consequently, I have decided to spend the rest of the year in Norway and Sweden.

"With pending offers from agents in Japan and the U.S. my time will be limited in the U.K. and if prospects were to have been more promising here then I would be bouncing back and forth which wouldn't be fair on anyone. So, I have to say that I'm not sad about this decision. We have done a lot over the years and a lot of the music is recognised worldwide and some of it is respected as classic AOR. That in itself is a great achievement.

"I fully intend to write solo material in the future and one way or another will always be in touch with the SHY guys more often than not. Roy and myself will be in constant contact for various reasons and he always throws a good party, so I won't be missing any of them! You guys have 23 years of history to ponder over and music to listen to and there will be many projects in the future, I have no doubt.

"So for now, goodbye, take it easy, keep rock alive as I know you all do, and I will be dropping in from time to time to see how you guys are while I'm writing in Norway."

The new TNT lineup will perform at Z Rock 06 at JB's in Dudley, England on September 24, 2006. Also scheduled to appear are FIREHOUSE, TOBY JEPSON, BOB CATLEY, SNAKERYDER, LOST WEEKEND, DANTE FOX and EDEN.

Longtime TNT singer Tony Harnell announced his departure from the band in April. Tony's final concert with the band took place the Polar Rock festival in Storsteinnes, Troms, Norway on June 30, 2006.

TNT's latest CD release, "All The Way to the Sun", entered the official Norwegian album chart at position No. 29 back in mid-November 2005.
