VADER Cancels WACKEN OPEN AIR Festival Appearance

May 21, 2007

Polish death metallers VADER have issued the following update:

"We would like to inform [everyone] about [the] cancellation of VADER's previously announced appearance [at the] Wacken Open Air 2007 [festival]. We are really sorry for the fans that were looking forward to our show!

"Black metal [band] BELPHEGOR will share the stage with VADER during dates scheduled in June, instead of previously announced DRAGONLORD. Eric Peterson [TESTAMENT/DRAGONLORD guitarist] and Co. won't appear on the tour due to some personal issues. Here's [DRAGONLORD's] statement [regarding the matter]: 'Due to our drummer Jon Allen, who cannot make this run because of personal reasons we are without drums...we all in DRAGONLORD feel bad as we were really looking forward to doing this run with VADER, and appreciate the opportunity given! Sorry again to all the promoters who squeezed us in! Also sorry to the fans who've been waiting for to come over there...we'll do our best to get over there soon!'

"The upcoming VADER gigs are going to take place in Germany: May 25 [at the] Sundown Festival, May 26 [at the] Rock Hard Festival, May 27 [at the] Hellraiser Festival."

In other news, VADER frontman Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek has commented on the band's May 19 appearance in Sofia, Bulgaria, where they played an exclusive show for Bulgarian maniacs who weren't able to see the band during their tour in December. "We kept a promise of playing a special, additional performance [in Sofia] after we were not able to play in December on VADER's Blitzkrieg 2006 Tour in Balkans," says Piotr. "What can I say about that night? It was definitely one of absolute best show on our tour 2006- 2007 promoting 'Impressions in Blood' album! It's good to know that there're still places in Europe, where metal means massacre and not just presence... High respect and THANX for all those die-hard fans (over 500 that night!!!) — especially those who were so loyal and kept the tickets from cancelled show in December. There were about 250 such persons!!! We will come back to Bulgaria always full of energy, enthusiasm and always hungry for the next 'battle'!!!!"

VADER entered Hertz Studio in Poland on March 15 to re-record 25 of the best songs from their entire discography for a 25th anniversary release, to be issued in 2008. The set will also include a DVD containing tons of bonus features, such as archival recordings, live shows, video clips and other special material.
