TYPE O NEGATIVE Will NOT Perform At ROCK & SHOCK 2006 Convention

October 4, 2006

Despite a previous announcement on to the contrary, TYPE O NEGATIVE will NOT be performing at this year's Rock & Shock 2006 convention, set to take place October 13-14 at The Palladium in Worcester, MA (Note: The convention itself will take place at the DCU Center). "The band is currently focused on completing a new album with a tentative early 2007 release date. There are currently no tour dates planned until the record is finished," reads a posting on TYPE O NEGATIVE's web site.

TYPE O NEGATIVE, whose first LP, "Slow, Deep and Hard", was issued in 1991, fulfilled their contractual obligations to longtime label Roadrunner with the release of 2003's "Life Is Killing Me". That album debuted on The Billboard 200 chart at No. 39 in June 2003 after registering a first-week sales tally of 27,000 copies. TYPE O NEGATIVE's best-selling album to date is 1994's "Bloody Kisses", which has shifted around a million copies in the U.S.

As previously reported, SEVENTH VOID, the new band formed by TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly, will play its first-ever New York City show on Wednesday, October 11, headlining Contact High Night at The Delancey (the "stoner rock" night hosted by High Times columnist and Sirius Satellite Radio / Hard Attack DJ Bobby Black).

SEVENTH VOID hits the stage at 10:00 p.m. Also performing will be BORGO PASS (9:00 p.m.) and GODZERO (11:00 p.m.). Doors at 7:00. Tickets are $10.

Rounded out by bassist Hank Hell (INHUMAN) and guitarist Matt Brown (ex-SUPERMASSIV),SEVENTH VOID contines TYPE O's tradition of slow, heavy riffs and existential lyrics, but with a slightly sludgier, "stonier" flavor.

SEVENTH VOID's upcoming album will be co-mixed by Vinnie Paul (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN). Brown is currently recording the group's yet-untitled debut, which is due in early 2007. Previews of three tracks — "Heaven Is Gone", "Shadow on Me" and "The End of Time" — can be heard at www.myspace.com/seventhvoid. The band recently opened two dates of a reunion tour by CARNIVORE, the band fronted by TYPE O NEGATIVE singer Pete Steele.
