TYGERS OF PAN TANG Completes Work On 'The Wildcat Sessions' EP

February 3, 2010

2010 will see NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) legends TYGERS OF PAN TANG celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Wildcat" album, the band's first and most iconic recording. The LP was released during the heyday of the NWOBHM movement and captures the real spirit of the music scene in the U.K. in 1980. The band at the time was a young four-piece, and after charting in the U.K. Top 40 albums at No. 15, this album proved to be the springboard for three more full-length releases in two years with various lineups until the band decided to disband in 1983.

Robb Weir, who originally formed the band in 1978, has resurrected the TYGERS with a new lineup, culminating in the release of the album "Animal Instinct" in 2008 to worldwide critical acclaim. As "Wildcat" is very close to Robb's heart, the band has decided to pick his top five tracks and re-record these to celebrate and remind the fans of the quality of the album which may have been long forgotten.

The TYGERS have announced that the recording and mixing of the forthcoming EP, "The Wildcat Sessions", is now complete and "we are very pleased with the end result. In particular with the recorded sound achieved, it really does capture the early '80s NWOBHM spirit and feel we were looking for.

"To achieve that raw almost 'live' vibe to the sound, we even replicated the microphone positioning that was used on the original recording."

The track listing for the EP is as follows:

01. Euthanasia
02. Slave to Freedom
03. Suzie Smiled
04. Don't Touch Me There
05. Wildcatz

After mastering, the disc will enter production mid-February. The first batch of copies will be ready for dispatch early March 2010.

The songs were re-arranged to utilize modern technology and recorded by the 2010 lineup:

Rob Weir - Guitar
Dean Robertson - Guitar
Brian West - Bass
Craig Ellis - Drums
Jacopo Meille - Vocals

"The Wildcat Sessions" EP will be a limited edition of only 1,000 copies and only available through the band's web site webshop at www.tygersofpantang.com.
