July 25, 2007

Turkish Daily News reports: Having a 20-year career is not an easy for any band, but if you think about a heavy metal band in Turkey, you are talking about a feat that is almost unique. PENTAGRAM knows this feat is worth celebrating; that is why they spent the year on a national tour of '20th anniversary" gigs. This Saturday, they are preparing for the biggest leg of the tour in Turkcell Kuruçesme Arena.

PENTAGRAM is a clear leader in Turkish heavy metal in so many ways, including their musical power, versatility and sales. Their sophomore album, "Trail Blazer" was a milestone for Turkish thrash metal and their third effort "Anatolia" became one of the best selling heavy metal albums of the country. In "Anatolia", the band steered away from thrash to heavy metal and started using Turkish music influences in their music. The title song and a cover version of "Gündüz Gece", originally written by Turkish folk music poet Asik Veysel's song were the first songs that the band used lyrics in Turkish and went on to be major hits. This was the moment when heavy metal came closest to being on the Turkish mainstream map.
