TRISTANIA Confirmed For Germany's WACKEN OPEN AIR Festival

Norway's TRISTANIA has been confirmed for next year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 30 - August 1, 2009 in Wacken, Germany.

The festival billing is shaping up as follows:

Wacken Open Air festival was honored with a Live Entertainment Award in the "Festival Of The Year" category. This award recognizes distiguished achievements in live entertainment and is given out by Live Entertainment Award (LEA) committee. The winners were announced on March 11, 2008.

Romania's Metalhead.ro conducted an interview with TRISTANIA's male singer Østen Bergøy at the 2008 edition of Greece's MMD (March Metal Day) festival, which was held on March 8 at Olympic Fencing Arena in Athens. Watch the chat below.

TRISTANIA earlier in the year parted ways with guitarist Svein Terje Solvang. A replacement axeman has not yet been announced.

TRISTANIA last fall announced the addition of Italian singer Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas to the group's ranks.

The band's latest album, "Illumination", was released in January 2007 via SPV. The CD was recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Germany with producer Waldemar Sorychta (LACUNA COIL, TIAMAT, GRIP INC.).
