TOMMY LEE Explains His Involvement With Music-Download Service

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee spoke to ITV.com about his involvement in BuyMusic.com, a new user-friendly legal music download site which launched earlier this week.

According to Lee, he became the spokesperson of the service in order to give the "artist's perspective."

"I didn't even think twice when Scott [Blum, the founder of Internet retailer Buy.com] asked me to be involved and represent me as an artist and all the other artists out there," Lee said.

"When people steal music, it sucks."

In order to promote the new service, Lee agreed to be featured on a gigantic billboard overlooking one of New York's most popular tourist spots — but his modesty is protected by a black strip on the poster.

Blum claims most of the one billion songs downloaded each month are from illegal sources: "We're here to stop that. We want to do the right thing for the artist."

Blum said choosing Tommy Lee as the face of his new venture was not a difficult decision.

He said: "Well, how many people are going to get up there and pose naked in Times Square on a 200 foot billboard? Plus, we are friends and hang out."
