THUNDERSTONE: Song Choices Revealed For EUROVISION SONG CONTEST Competition

January 5, 2007

According to ESCToday.com, Finnish melodic power metallers THUNDERSTONE are one of 12 artists chosen by YLE and the music industry fighting for the honor of representing the host country, Finland, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki. YLE tried a new system last year with well-known results so they decided to stick to it this time around. Four semifinals will be held, and preview shows will also be aired five days before each show.

The 12 artists chosen by YLE and the music industry will each perform two songs in semifinals and televoting will send the best one to the final in Turku on February 17. The four semifinals, each with three artists and six songs, will be held in Tampere at the Tohloppi TV studios while the final will move to Turku's Karibia, like last year. This selection method was used for the first time in 2006 and proved successful not only because it brought Finland its first victory but also gave birth to several domestic radio hits besides LORDI's huge success on sales.

THUNDERSTONE will perform the songs "Forevermore" and "Face in the Mirror" as part of the Semifinal 2, set to be held Saturday, January 27 19.00-20.20 (YLE TV2, YLE Radio Vega). A preview is scheduled for Monday, January 22 18.15-18.45 (YLE Radio Suomi).

THUNDERSTONE's lead singer Pasi Rantanen, who sung those high notes in LORDI's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" on stage in Athens, is a close friend of LORDI leader Mr. Lordi.

THUNDERSTONE will release its fourth studio album, "Evolution 4.0", on March 14 (except in the U.S., where it will be issued later in the spring). According to the band, the new CD is "a milestone, bringing in more of the heavier stuff that 'Tools of Destruction' already hinted at, but still retaining the landmark melodies of THUNDERSTONE. That's why we thought the title 'Evolution 4.0' best represents where we now stand". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Roots of Anger", "10,000 Ways", "Swirled", "Down with Me" and "The Source".

THUNDERSTONE's third full-length album, "Tools of Destruction", was released in the U.S. in June 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed at Timo Tolkki's (STRATOVARIUS) Goldenworks studio with producer/guitarist Nino Laurenne.
