THREAT SIGNAL Frontman Checks In From The Studio

January 2, 2009

Vocalist Jon Howard of the Canadian metallers THREAT SIGNAL has issued the following update:

"Right now I'm sitting in my home studio comping/editing the rhythm guitar tracks we recently recorded [for the second THREAT SIGNAL album] . And let me tell you its sounding tighter than a two year old! Not that I would know what that means, but Pat [Kavanaugh, bass] might?

"Raymond Hererra [FEAR FACTORY] and B-Real [CYPRESS HILL] were nice enough to get us into their studio (Temple Studios) in Chatsworth, California to track the guitars for the album earlier in December. We tried many different amps and cabinets to get the most bad-ass tone we could. We ended up using Diezel, VHT and Marshall heads, through Randall and Marshall cabs with eight different mics. Jeremy Blair, the engineer at Temple Studios, helped us out a TON with getting the perfect tone. That dude is the shiiiiit.

"Once I'm done editing the guitars, we will start tracking bass. The plan is to get most of the music tracked by the end of January so I can start vocals."

Some of the songtitles that are set to appear on the new THREAT SIGNAL album include "Through My Eyes", "Severed", "United We Stand", and "The Beginning Of The End".

"A New Beginning", the latest video from THREAT SIGNAL, can be viewed below. The clip was shot on April 10, 2008 with award-winning film director RT of 235 Films. The track comes off the group's debut album, "Under Reprisal", which was released in North America on August 22, 2006 via Nuclear Blast Records.

THREAT SIGNAL uploaded a demo version of a new song, entitled "Beyond Recognition", on the group's MySpace page.

The band's vocalist Jon Howard has joined forces with FEAR FACTORY members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums) in a new group called ARKAEA.

ARKAEA has spent the past few months recording its debut album. The CD, which promises to be as pummeling as anything the team of Olde Wolbers and Herrera has ever written, is due in March 2009 on Koch Records. Touring activities are in the works in support of the record.

Howard has been a part of the FEAR FACTORY family ever since Olde Wolbers served as producer for "Under Reprisal". Given that connection, the chemistry was there the instant the band started playing together.
