THE NEW YORK DOLLS To Enter Studio In January

On January 15, 2006, seminal lower-east side punk-rockers THE NEW YORK DOLLS will enter a hometown studio with producer Jack Douglas (AEROSMITH's "Toys in the Attic", JOHN LENNON, NEW YORK DOLLS' self-titled debut, etc.) to record their first album of entirely new material since their sophomore album "Too Much Too Soon". Led by David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, the band Rolling Stone magazine credits with "the sound and snarl of jubilant outlaw spirit" will record new tracks, including "Punishing World", "Plenty of Music" and "Rainbow Store". THE NEW YORK DOLLS are Johansen (vocals),Sylvain (guitar) with Steve Conte (guitar),Sami Yaffa (bass),Brian Delaney (drums) and Brian Koonin (keyboards). The 'DOLLS will tour the world in support of the new release scheduled for summer 2006 on Roadrunner Records.

Says Johansen, "Everything feels right. We're excited to get back into the studio to record what we feel are the strongest tracks of our careers."

In a time in music that is chock full of comebacks (the successful reunions of THE PIXIES and MÖTLEY CRÜE, among others),SMITHS legend Morrissey (a past President of the NEW YORK DOLLS fan-club) made the request that reunited the NEW YORK DOLLS in 2004 for the Meltdown Festival in the U.K. Ever since, the 'DOLLS have been touring steadily, playing festivals around the world including two dates in Ireland as special guests of fans THE WHITE STRIPES. In addition, the band has been headlining shows around the U.S., including Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival on Randall's Island, NY, WHFestival in Baltimore, MD, shows at both SXSW and NXNE, and most recently the Across the Narrows concert on Staten Island.
