THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Guitarist 'Blasting Out' New Material

September 27, 2008

New Jersey's THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN has issued the following update:

"Ben Weinman [guitar] has been holed up like a mad scientist blasting out the furious DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN insanity that will eventually find its way onto our next release. When Ben says that the stuff he's been writing has actually been giving HIM a headache, you know it's gonna be pretty intense.

"We have no touring plans for the immediate future, but you can be sure that we'll take a break from writing at around the halfway point and head out for some quick runs, so that we don't lose our minds (probably too late)."

Ben Weinman recently told UK's Rock Sound magazine that he did a remix of the LIL WAYNE track "Lollipop" but that he is "not sure if it is coming out." He added, "That beat got so played and remixed so his record label did not want to put out mine and it get lost. They are actually going to send me the JAY Z/LIL WAYNE track way upfront so I should be one of the first remixes of that track, hopefully. They want LIL WAYNE to get rock press, he loves rock, Kurt Cobain is his favorite artist. He loves to play guitar but he is horrible at it, another part of the deal is that I teach him how to play guitar.''

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's 1998 album "Under the Running Board" will be reissued on October 14 via Relapse. The new CD will include the entire Steve Evetts-produced effort as well as 10 bonus tracks.

"Under the Running Board" featured the contributions of singer Dimitri Minakakis who left the group afer the release of 1999's "Calculating Infinity".

Headbanger's Blog recently caught up with Ben Weinman to talk about THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's decision to pull out of the SUICIDE SILENCE tour, the DILLINGER drummer situation, Ben's plans for DILLINGER's next album, the band's upcoming DVD, his opinion of deathcore and his new line of heavy metal t-shirts for dogs. You can stream the interview below.

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN recently completed a U.S. tour with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.
