THE AGONIST Vocalist Checks In From The Road

October 10, 2007

Montreal's latest export THE AGONIST recently embarked on a week-long tour as direct support to OVERKILL, which leads them directly into a massive North American trek alongside ENSLAVED, ARSIS and THE FACELESS. The group just completed a lengthy run as direct support to SONATA ARCTICA further proving that their commanding and intense live performance can win over any crowd. They are quickly becoming one of the most talked-about new artists within the genre due primarily to their unrelenting touring and vocalist Alissa White-Gluz's stunning presence.

White-Gluz states: "THE AGONIST has finally completed our first U.S. tour, which was with SONATA ARCTICA. We will miss them! They were a lot of fun and very respectful towards us, something rare in the music industry. We were also happy with the crowd reactions at the SONATA shows. Obviously there were some closed minded people there who simply could not fathom the concept of screaming in metal, but for the most part we won over a large part of the people who haven't heard of us before. Now we are off to share the stage with OVERKILL and we are looking forward to getting more shows under our belt, but are also excited for the well-deserved week off we have prior to the ENSLAVED tour. The initial shock of a first tour has now worn off. We are all more comfortable with the torturous amount of work required for a band's first tour in a van with no driver or crew. OVERKILL and ENSLAVED are going to be a lot of fun and more to come when the time arrives."

Video footage of Montreal's THE AGONIST performing at the Key Club in Hollywood, California can be viewed below.

A new THE AGONIST e-card is now available, featuring video messages from vocalist Alissa White-Gluz discussing the meaning behind each track on the band's debut CD, "Once Only Imagined", along with their first music video for the track "Business Suits and Combat Boots", shot by renowned director David Brodsky (ALL THAT REMAINS, GWAR, THE RED CHORD). "Once Only Imagined" tackles some of society's biggest issues, including animal testing, drug abuse, eating disorders, environmental protection and man's inhumanity towards man and animals. The band's ultimate goal, though, is simply to encourage people to think for themselves.
