THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT Break The Law, Announce New Album

June 24, 2004

THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT, the California-based band featuring former P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel, were recently greeted with a cease-and-desist letter from attorneys of the American Red Cross. According to the letter, THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT's logo was in direct conflict with the interests of the American Red Cross. Any party with a logo similar to the A.R.C.'s "Geneva Cross" is illegal and is seen as a form of copyright infringement. THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT stated that they plan to comply with the order, but cannot help but feel confused by the situation.

"We have a lot of respect for the American Red Cross," stated lead singer Pete Stewart, "but I think it's rather hilarious that an international humanitarian organization has the time to mess with an independent rock band and actually go to the trouble, and expense, of drafting up legal papers." Stewart continued, "We're sort of amused and interested in why they would come after us. To us, I guess it seems like an illogical use of funds."

Fans who are the proud owners of THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT merchandise that feature the "illegal" logo can consider themselves lucky — they own what will likely be considered collector's items.

In order to comply with the letter from the American Red Cross, THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT will unveil their newly updated (and now legal) version of the band's logo on their website (www.theaccidentexperiment.net). Fans who log on will also get a small preview of the band's upcoming full-length album, "United We Fear", which is due out this fall.

"The album's been practically done for a while," guitarist Marcos Curiel
noted, "although we're still putting some finishing touches on it. We've been busy talking to several labels, from the biggest majors to the smallest indies, trying to figure out the best scenario to release the album. I can't say much more than that right now, but suffice to say we'll finally be able to announce a release date and all the details in the next few weeks."

THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT won Best New Band of 2003 at the San Diego Music Awards and in the last year have performed with KORN, DROWNING POOL, DAMAGEPLAN, SEVENDUST, STAIND, BODY COUNT, and FINGER ELEVEN. THE ACCIDENT EXPERIMENT consists of ex-P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel, ex-SPRUNG MONKEY drummer and bassist Ernie Longoria and Tony DeLocht, and former GRAMMATRAIN vocalist Pete Stewart.
