TED NUGENT To Make Texas His Official Home In 2005

December 24, 2004

Ted Nugent has told The Jackson Citizen Patriot in a phone interview Wednesday (Dec. 22) that he officially will become a Texas resident in 2005, after moving his family to Crawford, Texas, about a year and a half ago.

The rock guitarist is at his Concord residence during the holidays to prepare for his Whiplash Bash tour.

Nugent's major interests — hunting, politics and family — seem to converge in Crawford. He can hunt year-round there, and he plans a New Year's hunting excursion with Texas Gov. Rick ("Great Hair") Perry, reports The Jackson Citizen Patriot.

"Right behind Rocco's school is game! It's a barbecue dream," he said.

He said his son, Rocco Nugent, is excelling in the local schools and has done well in sports, too.

Nugent, who said he supports President Bush "100 percent," said his new home is "right around the corner" from Bush's ranch.

Nugent said he's working with the Texas fish and game department, where he writes for a state publication on bow-hunting. He said he and his wife have started a "Hunters for the Hungry" program there that delivers venison and other game to those who need food.

The second episode of his VH1 TV series, "Surviving Nugent", was shot last spring in Waco, Texas, not far from Crawford.

He will keep his Concord property and rebuild the house next spring, he said, returning for hunting and family events.
