TAPROOT Drummer: The New Album Is Worth The Wait

TAPROOT drummer Jarrod Montague has posted the following update on the group's official web site:

"I thought it was about time for a bit of an update on our progress since we are all getting anxious waiting for this record!

"As you may know, I've been done with drums for about a month. Steve [vocalist Stephen Richards] and Mike [guitarist Michael DeWolf] have been working their assess off in L.A. for the month and I just heard some of the progress last week. It is soooo amazing. Most of the main guitar and bass stuff is finished with a few more things to add and retouch still in January. There are songs which were in my lower half of favorites which are right up at the top of my list. They used so many cool guitar sounds and I think Mike has really refined his sound on this record. It just doesn't sound like anyone else. As someone who has lived with some of these songs for a year, I can't explain how excited I am to know that they have all been infused with new energy and I still love listening to them over and over even without vocals. I honestly don't think there are any of our fans that could be disappointed.

"Steve went back out to L.A. to work on vocals for a couple weeks, then everyone has two weeks off for Christmas. Then we will convene in January to finish stuff up. Then, the record must be mixed, mastered, and manufactured and we have to practice for the road! We're still shooting for that May release and will likely start touring in April or so.

"This record is worth the wait. It the best 12-13 songs out of 80, so it should be! By the way — you guys did make some great points about bands thinking they need to have a record out every year. A lot of bands that rush to get records out don't really get the time to mature I feel. I can think of three bands in our general genre that had records that came out at the same time as Welcome that have new records out now and, from what I've heard, they SHOULD have taken another year to write and develop instead of picking up EXACTLY where they left off. I hope you can agree."
