TAMMY FAYE MESSNER Talks About Her Friendship With MARILYN MANSON

June 24, 2003

Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Tammy Faye Bakker),who helped build one of the largest Christian TV networks in the world before her then-husband Jim Bakker's affair helped crumble their empire, recently revealed to New York Times that she became friends with MARILYN MANSON after they met during an interview.

"He came in looking just the way Marilyn looks, with his white eye and all this makeup on," she said, "and when I sat down with him, all he wanted to talk about was God."

"I cannot say I agree with everything Marilyn does and I'm like a mama saying, 'Marilyn, you straighten up!' But that's what our relationship is kind of like. He told me, 'You remind me so much of my mom.' And that's the greatest compliment any girl can have."

Messner is currently drumming up attention for "I Will Survive ... And You Will, Too!" — a chock-full-of-makeup-tips guide to life due in September and timed to coincide with a cabaret act she'll perform in Manhattan.
