TAAKE's Record Label Distances Itself From Frontman's 'Extremely Stupid Stunt'

March 27, 2007

TAAKE's record label, Dark Essence Records, has issued a statement distancing itself from the Norwegian black metal band after the group' singer appeared on stage in Essen, Germany last week with a swastika symbol drawn on his chest.

Commented the label: "In the last days, there's been a lot of controversy around TAAKE, because of an extremely stupid stunt at one of their gigs in Germany. In case somebody wonders, Dark Essence Records has NOTHING to do with the swastika scandal in Essen, and don't support that at all. Hoest [TAAKE frontman] takes all responsiblities for his actions, and all questions regarding this incident should be directed to him. Because of this, TAAKE won't play at any of the festivals that were confirmed, and Twilight [the German record distributor] has stopped selling the band's titles."

According to an article published in yesterday's (March 26) edition of the Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende, Dark Essence will evaluate TAAKE's future with the label once the band has returned from Germany as the company disapproves of the group's attitudes and behavior at the Essen concert.

As a result of TAAKE frontman Hoest's actions, the band has been officially removed from the billing of the Party.San Metal Open Air festival (set to take place August 9-11, 2007 in Bad Berka, Germany),the Tomahawk Festival festival (March 31, 2007 in Osnabrück, Germany) and the Ragnarök festival (scheduled for March 30-31, 2007 in Lichtenfels, Germany).

TAAKE's third album, "Doedskvad", was released in 2005 via Dark Essence Records. The band had previously released two albums on the Wounded Love label: "Nattestid..." (1999) and "Bjoergvin" (2002). "Doedskvad" is the last installment in this trilogy.
