SWALLOW THE SUN Begins Recording New Album

September 28, 2011

Finnish doom metallers SWALLOW THE SUN have issued the following update:

"During the well-deserved break we took from shows this year, we've been preparing new music, and now we are happy to announce that we have entered Drumforest Studios at Viitasaari to record our fifth full length album, which will be released February 1, 2012 by Spinefarm Records.

"Drumforest Studios is an atmospheric studio built in an old-school middle of Finland in Viitasaari. It's the perfect environment for the-legendary sound engineer Mikko Karmila to capture our signature sound. Mikko is well known in the metal world for his work with such names as NIGHTWISH, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS and CHILDREN OF BODOM, just to name a few, and we're very happy to work with him."

SWALLOW THE SUN's latest album, "New Moon", landed at position No. 148 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists (defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200).

"New Moon" entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 10. The CD, which was released on November 10, 2009 via Spinefarm Records, was recorded at Fascination Street studios in rebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with such acts as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH. Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND) has been recruited to play drums on the album following the recent departure of longtime skinsman Pasi Pasanen.

A mini-site for the CD can be accessed at this location.
