SUFFOCATION To Film 'Cataclysmic Purification' Video This Sunday

May 29, 2009

New York based extreme metal legends SUFFOCATION will film a video clip for the track "Cataclysmic Purification" this Sunday, May 31 with director David Brodsky (ARSIS, GOD FORBID, KATAKLYSM, SWASHBUCKLE). The song, which is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page, comes off the band's new album, "Blood Oath", which is scheduled for release in Europe on July 3 and in North America on July 14 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented SUFFOCATION bassist Derek Boyer: "'Cataclysmic Purification' audibly portrays a calamitous future approaching. With this song and the rest of the album, I think we've maintained the musical integrity of the band while still having comprehendible brutality. 'Blood Oath' combines straightforward crushing movements with unsuspecting twists that will certainly entertain everyone — from the avid SUFFOCATION listener to the first-time innocent bystanders."

"Blood Oath" will be available in three formats exclusive to the North American territory. In addition to the standard retail version, there will be a mail-order edition available exclusively through the Nuclear Blast U.S. webstore, and a digital version through iTunes.

The details and track listings for each release are below.

SUFFOCATION entered the studio on January 31 with Joe Cincotta (who worked on the band's last two releases) to begin recording "Blood Oath". The follow-up to 2006's self-titled record was mixed by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH) and cover artwork (see below) was once again brought to life by Jon Zig (DEEDS OF FLESH, DISGORGE, GORGASM).
