STRATOVARIUS Frontman Checks In From Greece

January 15, 2006

STRATOVARIUS frontman Timo Kotipelto has posted the following message on his official web site:

"Cool, I have been having this flu now for about one month. I know I am not the only person who's fighting with it at the moment. The thing is that I haven´t been able to sing (or do much nothing) since the beginning of December. And tonight we had the first gig in Thessaloniki, Greece. I was surprised that I was even able to sing. Must be because of the excellent Greek crowd!

"Well, some more gigs are awaiting. It's nice to be on the road again, I got bored to stay at home, sneezing and coughing. Next month I am trying to concentrate on my own songs and finalize them.

"Anyways, if you happen to live in Greece, Japan, Taiwan or China, you still have a chance to see STRATO live!!! (well, of course you are welcome to see the shows even [if] you [do] not live in those countries). Like tonight we had a longtime fan flying far away to see the show. Amazing! Respect! Hats off."

STRATOVARIUS are continuing to tour in support of their latest, self-titled effort, which was released in the U.S. on September 13 via Sanctuary. A video for the album's first single, "Maniac Dance", was in April 2005 in Helsinki by director and guitarist Timo Tolkki's old schoolmate Antti Jokinen (BEYONCÉ, WYCLEF JEAN, KORN, MISSY ELLIOT, NIGHTWISH, SHANIA TWAIN, CELINE DION).
