STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Drummer Finishes Filming Instructional DVD

March 9, 2007

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ex-DARK ANGEL/DEATH drummer Gene Hoglan has finished filming his first-ever instructional DVD. "Now, for a month of editing... It's gonna be awesome!" he writes on his MySpace page. "I'll detail everything over the weekend for ya."

Gene previously stated about the upcoming DVD, "It's gonna be kick-ass! Just me playin' and preachin' 'The Hoglan Method' ('The Hoglan Method', that's hiliarious! "Okay kid, ya wanna learn how to play drums? Well, first off, put down your sticks for six months, and learn to master JUGGLING! It'll be great for your chops. No, really!)."

Hoglan recently spent time at the Mars Recording compound in Cleveland, Ohio laying down tracks for the upcoming debut album from ABSENTEE, the project led by former MUSHROOMHEAD frontman J. Mann (a.k.a. Jason Popson).

ABSENTEE previously recorded a cover of the MELVINS track "Revolve" for the MELVINS tribute album "We Reach: The Music of the Melvins", which came out in August 2005 via Fractured Transmitter Records.
