STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Drummer: FEAR FACTORY Trek Was Best U.S. Tour We've Ever Been On

December 9, 2005

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD drummer Gene Hoglan has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"Howdy, folks! Wow, I can't believe it's been two weeks since I wrote one o' these...

"Ahh, the end of tour. We played our last show in Vancouver on Monday, and it was a mighty homecoming indeed! All the bands got through the border without a search or even having to get outta bed! If they only knew how much contraband we were sneakin' through! I joke, ya don't bring a hamburger to the filet mignon dinner that is Vancouver.

"Everybody had a great show, and we even had an aggro show, which is awesome, but rare in Vancouver. Usually, we get a bit taken aback by all the smiling happy faces in the crowd here, and we end up having a happy smily show. Not this time, which was very cool!

"After our heartfelt good-byes with all our touring brethren, we all adjourned home. And I for one, slept for 3 days straight. Y'know, I never feel exhausted on the road, like where I think, 'Oh yeah, I'm gonna sleep for 3 days when I get home,' but there it is. 3 days of sleeping 'till 5 in the afternoon, then passing out for another few hours. That's not like me. Plus, I didn't get half the shit accomplished back home that I needed to. Unlike Dev [Devin Townsend, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mainman], who has crammed 7 days of work into 4. Fuck, that guy works harder than anybody I know. No days off for him...

"But I must say, this 'Category 5-Fifteen Years of Fear' tour was absolutely the BEST tour of the States STRAPPING has ever been on, let alone could've asked for. FEAR FACTORY and their godly crew treated us great, way better than we shoulda been treated, SOILWORK and DARKANE are both excellent bands and even better people, and it was fantastic getting to know all of them and their equally friendly crews. Everyone will be missed, and we wish everybody, from the top to the bottom, the best!

"Now, it's off to the U.K., to tear it a new one. Can't wait to get on that plane tomorrow. WE Rule Britannia!

"I'll babble at ya again from over there."
