STONE SOUR/Ex-SOULFLY Drummer ROY MAYORGA Working On Solo Album

July 4, 2008

STONE SOUR/ex-SOULFLY drummer Roy Mayorga has posted a solo track called "Desert Song" on his MySpace page. The song, which was written and performed entirely by Mayorga with the exception of the guitar solos (which were provided by Jim Root [STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT] and Levon Sultanian [ONESIDEZERO, ABLOOM]),was originally composed for the drum clinic Mayorga took part in at the Drummer Live 2008 event in the UK.

Video footage of Mayorga performing "Desert Song" at Drummer Live 2008 can be found at this location (Quicktime required). A video interview with Mayorga conducted by VicFirth.com is available here (Quicktime required).

Roy is currently working on a solo album and is playing with the Los Angeles-based band BLACK PRESIDENT (MySpace page) which is taking part in the West Coast dates on this summer's Warped Tour. Mayorga also played on the new BLACK PRESIDENT album, which is due out in September.

As previously reported, Mayorga is collaborating with the reunited UK "crust punk" pioneers AMEBIX on new material and is expected to hit the road with the band in early 2009.

For more information on Mayorga's current activities, check out this recent interview he gave to OnlineDrummer.com.
