STAIND Guitarist Speaks Out On NBA Near-Riot

STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok has weighed in on the near-riot that took place at theDetroit Pistons-Indiana Pacers basketball game last Friday (Nov. 19). He told Launch Radio Networks that the players needed to show more restraint. "You gotta know the line," he said. "And I've been hit with stuff on stage, but you know what? You gotta be above that, and you gotta stand there, and you almost — it's kind of part of the gig, you know what I mean? All right, it's not fun getting hit with a cup, but come on, guy, count to 10 and get out, you know what I mean?"

The Pacers' Ron Artest, who was laying down on the scorekeeper's table after an on-court fight with the Pistons' Ben Wallace, was hit in the chest by a plastic cup thrown by a fan, and he and teammate Stephen Jackson went into the stands to fight with Pistons fans.

A total of nine players from both teams were suspended following the incident, with Artest receiving the most severe punishment — a season-long ban that will cost him more than $5 million in salary, but which will leave him free to promote his new R&B album.
