SONATA ARCTICA Confirmed For PROGPOWER USA VIII Festival

November 30, 2006

Finnish melodic metallers SONATA ARCTICA have been confirmed as one of the headliners of the ProgPower USA VIII festival, set to take place October 5-6, 2007 at Center Stage Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. Also scheduled to appear are VIRGIN STEELE, REDEMPTION, FIREWIND, COMMUNIC and RAINTIME. Four more bands will be announced for the festival over the coming months. Advance gold badges are sold out and only 900 tickets will be made available to the public.

As previously reported, Germany's progressive metal icons VANDEN PLAS and Sweden's FREAK KITCHEN have been confirmed to co-headline the ProgPower USA VIII Showcase on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

Ticket information for both the main festival and the Showcase will be released via the festival web site (www.progpowerusa.com).

The new single from SONATA ARCTICA, "Replica" — containing a new version of the title cut, which originally appeared on the band's 1999 debut, "Ecliptica", plus the songs "Draw Me" (instrumental) and "Respect the Wilderness" — entered the Finnish single chart earlier in the month at position No. 1.

The new version of "Replica" is included on SONATA ARCTICA's "best of" collection, entitled "The Collection 1999-2006", which entered the Finnish album chart at No. 16. In addition to material from the band's studio albums, the CD contains a new version of the song "My Land", which also originally appeared on "Ecliptica".
