SLIPKNOT: 'Vol. 3' Debuts At No. 2 On BILLBOARD Chart

June 2, 2004

SLIPKNOT's new album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", has sold 242,683 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release to debut at No. 2 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)" is the follow-up to "Iowa", which registered a first-week sales tally of more than 254,000 copies back in September 2001 to enter The Billboard 200 chart at No. 3.

In other SoundScan news, MONSTER MAGNET's latest effort, "Monolithic Baby", has shifted 3,749 copies during its first week of release — a disappointing showing for a band whose last effort, 2001's "God Says No", debuted at No. 153 on The Billboard 200 chart.

On the more "underground" side of things, the following are select two-week totals for some of the more notable metal releases that came out on May 18:

AMEN - "Death Before Musick": 1,843
BEYOND THE EMBRACE - "Insect Song": 1,265
CHAOSBREED - "Brutal": 195
