SLIPKNOT Tribute Band DISASTERPIECE Meet Their Heroes

March 22, 2004

Members of SLIPKNOT attended a show by the first-ever SLIPKNOT tribute band DISASTERPIECE on Thursday, March 18 at The House of Bricks in Des Moines, Iowa.

Commented DISASTERPIECE in their newsletter: "It was a most exciting and surreal experience for all of us here in DISASTERPIECE. Especially Joe Lohr #4 who received from [SLIPKNOT guitarist] Jim Root his personal first custom-made Fender guitar that he used on the last tour and Jim's second original mask. This is the first time any fan has received an original mask ever. Jim's first mask is in the custody of the ink god Paul Booth.

"Mick, Jim, Sid, Corey, Joey, Paul and Chris attended the show and were blown away and Mick [was] quoted [as] saying, ' That was the coolest thing I have ever seen.' And Jim [was] quoted [as] saying, 'This is weird... I'm watching us... They got it down.' So we have received the ultimate compliment and the band gave us their permission to continue. Mick did not threaten to kill any of us, so we must [have] done it right.

"Not only did the members themselves come out but many of the SLIPKNOT crew members attended this show as well and they were very impressed as well."
