SLIPKNOT's Videos Pulled From Germany's Biggest Music TV Channel Following School Massacre

Germany's biggest music television channels, Viva and sister channel Viva Plus, have taken SLIPKNOT's videos out of rotation after it was learned that Robert Steinhaeuser, the 19-year old who went on a shooting spree in Erfurt (killing 18 people),had been a big fan of the group. Neither the band's record company, Roadrunner Records, nor SLIPKNOT themselves have yet commented on the matter.

As reported here two days ago, several major European newspapers had tried to blame SLIPKNOT for the school massacre by linking Steinhaeuser with a supposed track recorded by the Iowa band called "School Wars".

The UK's biggest-selling daily newspaper The Sun published a story that stated, in part, that a song named 'School Wars' by heavy metal band SLIPKNOT may have prompted massacre fiend to go on his rampage...American band SLIPKNOT wear macabre masks on stage. And expelled pupil Steinhaeuser, a 19-year-old Satanist, was masked when he shot dead 13 teachers, two teenagers and a cop at his old school in Erfurt, Germany.

The article went on to claim that the song contained the line, Shoot your naughty teachers with a pump gun, and implied that SLIPKNOT's music was instrumental in inciting Robert to commit his crimes. However, it later transpired that SLIPKNOT had never even recorded a track called "School Wars", thereby instantly blowing a huge hole in the credibility of much of the mainstream media covering the controversy.

A spokesperson for Roadrunner Records told Metal Hammer: SLIPKNOT do not have a song called 'School Wars', and given the past tragedies in the United States, it would be highly unlikely that they'd ever record one.
