SLAVIOR Performs First Sold-Out Club Gig In Japan

August 24, 2007

SLAVIOR — the band featuring ex-FATES WARNING/WARLORD drummer Mark Zonder, current MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP guitarist Wayne Findlay, RING OF FIRE/STEVE VAI bassist Philip Bynoe and TRIBE OF GYPSIES vocalist Greg Analla — played the first of two club shows to a sold-out Dress, Akiba in Tokyo last night (August 23). The band powered through the majority of the material from its self-titled debut album (available in Europe and America via Inside Out Music and in Japan through Dingwall Music) and was joined for the night's encore by SPOCK'S BEARD/GPS keyboard player Ryo Okumoto for DEEP PURPLE's "Stormbringer" and RAINBOW's "Can't Happen Here".

The band has a second club show at Numa-Bukuro's Sanctuary club this evening (August 24) before flying home to California on Sunday, August 26.

SLAVIOR's self-titled debut album was released on April 3 via Inside Out Music.

Video footage of Mark Zonder talking about how SLAVIOR came together can be viewed below.

The band had originally inked a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records, but financial turmoil eventually caused the label to fold, leaving SLAVIOR to re-evaluate matters and come to their initial choice of labels, Inside Out.

A versatile, melodic hard rock/metal act, SLAVIOR's debut album features elements familiar to Zonder's progressive metal past, but also introduces a wide array influences including reggae, hip-hop, and modern rock.
