SKINLAB Rejoined By Guitarist MIKE ROBERTS, Drummer PAUL HOPKINS

December 9, 2004

SKINLAB frontman Steev Esquivel has issued the following update on the band's current activities:

"We've have a bunch of exciting news for everyone interested.

"First off, we'd like to thank all of the fans/friends that have been sending in letters/emails. I've said before and I will say it again: 'SKINLAB has some of the most dedicated fans/friends in the world!!'. It feels great to know you're still there for us.... Thank you!

"OK, there's been much speculation as to whether SKINLAB has broken up or not. All we can say is....... No! We're not ready to hang up our gloves just yet! We'll be back next year with a new CD. But this time we're going back to our roots. Yup that's right, after a seven year departure from the band Mike Roberts returned to the fold, with Paul Hopkins and Snake to write the best SKINLAB record ever!

"Wasting no time, yesterday (Dec. 7) we decided to head down to Snake's Greendot studios to hang out (smoke some 'hee haw') and talk about what we all had in mind, what we wanted to bring to the table, and how we're gonna approach things, since all doing our other things right now as well. Mike has an amazing band called PRIMATE. Snake and I are doing RE:IGNITION, Paul has a killer side project going too. We're all having a fun again enjoying playing different styles of music as extensions of our musical personalities. But there are some things that have become permanent in our lives, and that's SKINLAB. And that's what the four of us agreed on.

"After handshakes and the smoked cleared, it was time to turn on the Marshalls and bust out some riffs!!

"While hanging out we managed to lay down some tracks to what eventually ended up being one oth the heaviest song SKINLAB has ever written. I mean, it felt the like the monster that we had created back in '94 was back and alive. Snake and Mike's writing style meshed perfectly, as if we we're in writing mode for 'Bound Gagged and Blindfolded' sessions.

"Later in the day Hopkins laid down tracks for a song Snake and I had been working on appropriately titled 'Buried Alive', It's got that old school vibe, very pissed off (SLAYER/ENTOMBED 'Wolverine Blues') energy going on. If things go as good as they did today, we're gonna have ourselves a bad-ass record!! We are very aware of what's expected of SKINLAB at this point, we're aware of our surroundings. And feel the 'LAB still has what it takes to contribute to the ever thriving metal scene."
