SKINLAB Cancels South American Tour

June 17, 2009

Bassist/vocalist Steev Esquivel of of veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers SKINLAB has issued the following update:

"We've been holding on the sideline for a week now and feel time to finally announce our cancelling of our participation in the Project Independent tour of South America with ILL NINO and SKIN CULTURE.

"We have been getting nothing but the runaround for the last week, [so] we've decided to pull the strings and bail out of this tour and continue recording the new album.

"We are very bummed over this situation and will not point any fingers, but we would like to apologize to all the South American fans who have been writting us... This is completely out of our control!!

"Good news is ...we're back to recording!! Juan [Urteaga, producer] and Snake [a.k.a. Steve Green, SKINLAB guitarist] have been re-amping the last couple days, we've also been swapping back and forth recording vocals at Trident and then recording bass and guitar over dubs with Snake and his studio... Gotta say it's taking a bit longer, but well worth the time. The guitars are fuckin crunchin' yet girthy and very organic-sounding, bass is distorted as ever and vocals are on fuckin' fire . This is the best I have been singing in years, we're having a killer time recording this album. Can't fuckin wait to share it with ya'll. It will NOT disappoint!!"

Capital Chaos has uploaded video footage (see below) of SKINLAB performing on April 17, 2009 at The Kennel Club in Sacramento, California. Also on the bill were STEPCHILD, DROP SEVEN and MUCUS MEMBRANE. The show was a benefit concert for DEFTONES bassist Chi Cheng.

SKINLAB released a live album, "SkinnedAlive!", in April 2008 via BCD Music Group. The CD was recorded on June 3, 2007 at The Metro in Oakland, California.

SKINLAB's current lineup:

Paul Hopkins - Drums
Glen Telford - Guitars
Steev Esquivel - Bass/Vocals
Snake - Guitars

SKINLAB's last studio album, "ReVolting Room", came out in 2002. A double-disc set, entitled "Nerve Damage", featuring alternate versions of studio tracks, several live tracks recorded on the band's "ReVolting Room" tour, plus two new songs, came out in 2004.
