SKINDRED Frontman BENJI WEBBE Slashed In Knife Attack

February 1, 2016

Singer Benji Webbe of the Welsh "ragga metal" act SKINDRED and his partner were assaulted Friday night in their hometown of Newport.

Benji and Julie Christian were returning home after attending his friend Iffy Harris's birthday party when the attack happened. Webbe says that he was "slashed across the face and throat" while Christian was "dragged around" by a group of women.

He says: "Thank you all so much for all your concern and well wishes, it makes all the difference and means the world to us. As you can imagine, this has been quite an ordeal.

"Julie, fortunately, was not physically hurt but the whole thing has taken a toll on us both. For me to be slashed across the face and the throat, for Julie to be dragged around and spat at by a group of women who glassed me... just know that we will rise above this and remain positive and in love.

"Newport is my home town and I still love it and the community we have. Big up."

Webbe has uploaded a couple of pictures of his injuries to his Facebook page, saying he will live with the scars for the rest of his life.

SKINDRED's latest album, "Volume", came out last October via Napalm Records.
