SILENTIUM: Lineup Changes Galore

March 1, 2004

Finnish atmospheric doom metallers SILENTIUM have parted ways with drummer Janne Ojala, violinist Jani Laaksonen and vocalist Anna Ilveskoski.

"It all started when Janne informed us about his departure," guitarist/vocalist Toni Lahtinen writes on the group's web site. " 'The band hasn't evolved since the demo days and my motivation has burnt out,' he said. After that announcement Jani and Anna informed that after Janne's departure, it would take too much time to find a decent replace for him, so they've decided to leave also.

"For a short time we were on the edge of slaying the whole band, but after a few nights of sleep we saw things clearer again. Now we've found a replacements for Janne and Anna and are trying to get the things roll as soon as possible. Of course it'll take some time, but we'll do our best."

As a result of the lineup changes, SILENTIUM have been forced to postpone a handful of gigs but plan on making them up at a later date.

SILENTIUM's third album, "Sufferion - Hamartia of Prudence", was recorded at Sundicoop Studio in Savonlinna, Finland and was produced by NIGHTWISH mainman Tuomas Holopainen. Available in Finland through Spikefarm Records, the CD features a guest appearance by former LULLACRY and current SOULGRIND frontwoman Tanja Kemppainen.
