16 Signs To RELAPSE RECORDS

April 25, 2008

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Los Angeles, California's 16. The band's original "Dropout" lineup of Cris Jerue (vocals),Tony Baumeister (bass),Bobby Ferry (guitar) and Jason Corley (drums) is currently working on the follow-up to 2003's "Zoloft Smile" (At A Loss Recordings),due later in the year.

16 commented on the signing: "We are more than excited about working with Relapse. Call it ecstatic,, if you will. Collectively we have been fans of the label since the inception of 16, and in fact, it's one of the only constants that exist between us in that we are always fans of something the label is releasing. Signing to Relapse is a dream come true for the band as a whole. Currently we are halfway through recording our Relapse debut and so far it is shaping up to be the definitive 16 album. We are channeling every ounce of our anger, anti-social conditioning, and songwriting skills we have developed over the years into this album. Upon its completion we will be touring the U.S. and abroad extensively in support of it."

Since forming in the early '90s, 16 has released a number of full-length albums and split releases. 16 has also toured the globe, sharing stages with SLAYER, NEUROSIS, GRIEF, MELVINS, UNSANE, MASTODON, HIS HERO IS GONE, BOTCH, and many more.
