SHINING Albums To Be Re-Released On PEACEVILLE

January 24, 2008

UK label Peaceville, home to venerable bands such as DARKTHRONE and KATATONIA, will re-release two albums from controversial Swedish black metallers SHINING. "IV: The Eerie Cold" and "III: Angst, Självdestruktivitetens Emissarie" will be issued on June 9 and July 21, respectively.

Niklas Kvarforth, SHINING vocalist and the band's creator, has recently been resting his voice following minor surgery for nodules on his throat. Commented a representative for the band: "The surgery was nothing to worry about. Nodules are a hazard of the trade for vocalists, especially if they use the 'extreme' style of singing, which Kvarforth does, of course. Surgery was timed to fit in between the end of the band's recent European tour with SKITLIV and HELLSAW, and before the start of the festival season. He's fit and well now, and ready to perform at the Brutal Brutality festival this weekend."

Kvarforth recently joined Maniac's band SKITLIV, playing guitar and sharing writing duties on the music side with the former MAYHEM vocalist in a band that owes as much to the doom and noise genres as it does to black metal, and allows Kvarforth more freedom to improvise on stage.
