SCOTT WEILAND Gives 'Once-In-A-Lifetime' Opportunity To Unsigned Hopefuls

February 22, 2005

ContactMusic.com is reporting that VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland left an unsigned British group speechless when he invited them to open for his band — as a thank you for showing him around London's bars.

The former heroin addict asked SECOND LINE for nightlife advice after a chance meeting in Camden's Jazz Cafe, and rewarded their subsequent hospitality by offering them a life-changing gig at top venue Brixton Academy on January 21.

SECOND LINE's drummer, known only as Jon, says, "He asked a couple of our band which bars were good, so they took him to the Monarch.

"They then all went back to our guitarist's flat for more drinks and listened to some records, giving Scott a demo of our band before he left.

"A few days later we got a call from their tour manager asking if we'd support them at their Brixton Academy show. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
