SCORPIONS To Release New Album Next May

July 27, 2006

Veteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We are looking forward to the Wacken [Open Air] show where we are going to play with our old friends, Michael [Schenker], Uli [Jon Roth] and Hermann [Rarebell]. This is going to be a very special event. If you are surprised that the set list voting for the Wacken show took place on the festival page vs. our official web site this is because we wanted to get a feel for what the audience of the festival wanted to hear. Presumably, the new album will be released in May 2007. We'll keep you posted as details become more clear."

SCORPIONS have reportedly tapped songwriter/producer Desmond Child — who has worked with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER — to produce their next studio album, which they expect to release before the end of 2007. Child, who recently worked with Michael Beinhorn, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman as co-producer on MEAT LOAF's "Bat Out of Hell III: The Last at Bat" CD, has also been mentioned as MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil's likely collaborator on Neil's new solo album, which the vocalist was previously said to be planning to record this summer.

SCORPIONS' latest album, "Unbreakable", was released in the U.S. in June 2004 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Peppermint Park Studio in Hannover, Germany and was mixed at Wisseloord studios in Hilversum, Holland.
