SCENES Part Ways With Bassist, Announce Replacement

November 18, 2005

German prog-metallers SCENES, who feature in their ranks Alex Koch (ex-SPIRAL TOWER, POWERGOD) on vocals, have parted ways with longtime bassist Jan Ebert.

"During the [recent] months it became clear that Jan's musical wishes and plans [took a different turn] from the plans of the other SCENES members," the group write in a statement. "Therefore he decided to leave the band before this issue would touch the friendship between all of us."

Commented Jan: "SCENES was an important part of my musical life, I am very proud of what we achieved with SCENES, but for me it is time now to do something different. Of course I will still attend the hard 'n' heavy scene as a bassist. So I would like to thank all the faithful fans who supported SCENES and myself throughout all the years. I hope to see all of you again."

Replacing Ebert in SCENES is 22-year-old Hannes Farrenkopf, who had previously played with the South German band KAMINARI. Hannes will make his live debut with the group this Saturday, November 19 at at the Leonberg Bassbox.
