RUSH: Two New Tribute Albums Due In March

According to a posting on the RUSH fan site Power Windows, two new RUSH tribute albums are to be released in March. Todd Mark Rubenstein, the man behind the "Exit Stage Right - The String Quartet Tribute to Rush" has finished "The String Quartet Tribute To Rush's 2112", set for release March 8. The album is a complete string recreation of the album "2112". Rubenstein has also been contracted to create a RUSH piano tribute for a future release. In addition, the label that released the 1996 tribute album "Working Man", Magna Carta, will be releasing "Subdivisions" on March 15. A heavy metal tribute with pre-mix editing by early RUSH producer Terry Brown and artwork by longtime RUSH artist Hugh Syme, the album will feature Vinnie Moore on guitar, Stu Hamm on bass and Mike Mangini on drums plus a slew of vocalists from Sebastian Bach to Kip Winger. In other news, RUSH were spurned for the fourth time in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category at the Grammy Awards this past Sunday night (Feb. 13) (the winner in the category was BRIAN WILSON with "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow"). RUSH's "YYZ" lost in 1982 to THE POLICE's "Behind My Camel"; "Where's My Thing?" lost in 1992 to ERIC JOHNSON's "Cliffs of Dover"; and "Leave That Thing Alone!" lost in 1995 to PINK FLOYD's "Marooned".
