ROTTING CORPSE Interviewed By SOULFLY Bassist

March 26, 2010

SOULFLY bassist Bobby Burns conducted an interview with reactivated '80s thrashers ROTTING CORPSE at a recent stop on the two bands' current joint U.S. tour (also featuring PRONG and INCITE). Watch the chat below.

ROTTING CORPSE recently posted several new demo tracks on its newly launched MySpace page.

The group's current lineup is as follows:

Henry Elizondo (DEVASTATION) - Vocals, Guitar
Paul Mercurio - Bass
Lennon Lopez (M.O.D) - Drums
Walter Trachsler (DEVASTATION, DEATH) - Vocals, Guitar

According to Trachsler, the three new songs that are currently available for streaming on MySpace are "not finished yet, as they contain scratch vocals, no leads, and are unmixed." He adds, "three more NEW tracks are on the way. We also changed up and recorded 'Neck Breaking Fury' and recorded three other old tracks ('Rotting Corpse', 'Evil Slaughter' and 'Those Without Conscience'). All are on the site but are not finished yet."

The new recordings were laid down at Monster Music in San Antonio, Texas with producer Keith Krouse, who has previously worked with DEVASTATION. Trachsler says, "You could say that the songs are in demo form now, but once they are all complete we will put them out as a self-released album with formal distribution. We have a few other ideas for albums we would like to see done. Whatever the case, we'll end up doing as much as we can get done."

Regarding ROTTING CORPSE's plans for the immediate future, Walter says, "What we are doing now is not a reunited or reborn or re-what-the-fuck-ever — this is a new band with new material, with an old name and a legacy. Yeah, we do a few old songs for the sake of the history of the name, and that's about it. Although we do have a blast playing that old shit!!! We're just doing what we do best — playing thrash metal and fucking it up!!!

"We will spend the majority of 2010 on tour around the world, finally bringing the Texas thrash metal circus to the masses."

ROTTING CORPSE's entire collection of demos, aptly titled "The Demos", was released last September via Germany's Stormspell Records. The CD+DVD package comes with a 12-page booklet loaded with detailed band story, lyrics, and tons of archive pics and flyers.

ROTTING CORPSE in 2005 released a documentary DVD, entitled "Circus of Fools". The hour-plus-long documentary, directed and produced by SPLarsen, contained rare career-spanning footage of ROTTING CORPSE, rare still photographs, interviews with former members John Perez (SOLITUDE AETURNUS) and David Gryder (BLOOD OF THE SUN) and 37-minutes of rare bonus material. The interviews were not limited to band members but included individuals such as Jason McMaster (WATCHTOWER, DANGEROUS TOYS),Rodney Dunsmore (DEVASTATION),Scott Fulwiler, creator of TexasMetalUnderground.com and others who were able to recall the early days of ROTTING CORPSE and the thrash metal scene throughout Texas. The majority of the interviews occurred during the May 2005 tour of Texas when a two-person film crew from Deermagian Filmworks accompanied ROTTING CORPSE, documenting each show and conducting the interviews.
