ROSS ROBINSON Inks Label Deal With ARTISTdirect RECORDS

March 12, 2002

Acclaimed producer Ross Robinson and ARTISTdirect Records have announced the formation of a new imprint, I AM/ARTISTdirect Records. Under this production agreement, Robinson will oversee the imprint's A&R activities, contribute to the development of its talent, as well as produce artists for I AM/ARTISTdirect Records. ARTISTdirect Records staff will handle all marketing, promotion, sales, and publicity activities for the imprint's roster, and all releases will be distributed through BMG.

Robinson's partnership with ARTISTdirect follows the termination of I AM Records' deal with Virgin Records, a collaboration which had followed a similar arrangement with Roadrunner Records.

Although Robinson's signings via the I AM imprint had generated much critical acclaim and press attention, only SLIPKNOT has achieved any kind of commercial success thus far, with the likes of AMEN and GLASSJAW having failed to light up the charts in a manner that would justify their substantial hype.

Among the first releases under the agreement between I AM and ARTISTdirect will be the debut CD from Seattle's THE BLOOD BROTHERS, who are scheduled to begin recording the effort on March 20th with Robinson at the helm. A late summer/early fall release is expected.
