'Ronnie Drew' Single Featuring DEF LEPPARD Singer Lands On Irish Chart

March 2, 2008

"The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew", a download-only single recorded by various artists that was released last week, has entered the Irish singles chart just one position short of the top spot. The song features a host of Ireland's finest artist and is a tribute to Ronnie Drew, one of the great voices of modern Irish music.

Among the collaborators you will not only find U2, THE DUBLINERS, Christy Moore, Shane MacGowan, Andrea Corr and Sinead O'Connor, but also DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott; not Irish as such, but a long time Dublin resident. Says Joe: "Anybody who was in town went, so it was a case of being asked and saying 'When do you want me??'"

The song is now also available on CD single in Ireland.
