'Rock School' Documentary Pulled From Release

June 9, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: "Rock School", the documentary about the real-life "School of Rock", has closed after just one weekend on a handful of screens. Sources told Launch that after a very light box office, Newmarket Films opted to cancel the remaining nationwide openings with no word about whether they'll be rescheduled. "Rock School" is about the Paul Green School of Rock in Philadelphia, where students high school-aged and younger learn to play rock music in a structured setting. Alice Cooper makes a cameo appearance, performing his hit "School's Out" with some of the students as the end credits roll.

The producers of Jack Black's 2003 comedy, "School of Rock", have denied that the Paul Green School of Rock inspired their film, although Green contends otherwise.

In addition to Cooper, the "Rock School" soundtrack features MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine, DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan and others performing with Green's students.
