RITCHIE BLACKMORE: New Audio Interview Available

December 11, 2006

An audio interview with legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT),conducted on December 2, 2006 by the Italian public radio RadioUno (as part of its "Stereonotte" program),has been made available as a podcast at this location. The questions are in Italian, but you can hear the answers in English direcly from Blackmore's own mouth. Topics covered are mainly BLACKMORE'S NIGHT-related, but Ritchie also talks briefly about DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW, and explains why he chose to cover RAINBOW's "Street of Dreams" and DEEP PURPLE's "Child in Time" with BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, as well as why he sometimes plays "Smoke on the Water" live with his current band.

As previously reported, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's holiday album, "Winter Carols", recently entered Billboard's New Age album chart at position No. 7. The seven-piece band, featuring the airy vocals of his lovely fiancée, Candice Night, who has been compared to Stevie Nicks and Karen Carpenter, has been an ongoing passion of the guitarist since 1997.
